    The most commonly offered and best-known type of massage. It uses a firm but gentle pressure to improve circulation, ease muscle and tension, improve flexibility, and create relaxation.

  • REFLEXOLOGY

    During pregnancy and following the birth of a child the mother's body needs special care. Massage therapy can relieve some of the discomfort that you may experience, such as low back pain and edema, and the relaxing effects of massage therapy are very useful in preparation for labor and delivery. Following the birth, we recommend bodywork to restore the pelvis to its proper alignment and ease the shoulder tension that results from nursing and carrying the child.

    Tui Na or Tuina is a type of Asian bodywork that focuses on balancing the flow of energy in the body. It is one of the oldest forms of massages, dating back to at least 1700 BCE in China. It is an important aspect of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and it is used to treat a variety of conditions as well as systemic problems. Typically, Tui Na complements other TCM treatments, with many patients returning for regular treatments. After a Tui Na session, the patient usually feels energized but relaxed.

Swedish techniques improve circulation and relaxation.

  • MYOFASCIAL RELEASE/CONNECTIVE TISSUE

    When an injury occurs, or as a result of postural distortion, the fascia, a thin, elastic membrane that surrounds all the structures of the body, can become twisted, adhered, contracted, and rigid, pulling the structure out of alignment, restricting movement, entrapping nerves, and contributing to pain and dysfunction. These techniques soften and stretch the fascia to restore function and reduce pain.

A specialty massage where the therapist uses smooth, heated stones by placing them on the body while they massage other parts of the body. The heat can be both deeply relaxing and help warm up tight muscles so the therapist can work more deeply, more quickly.

An ancient art, which involves the use of natural plant oils for healing, cleansing, and relaxation. The art of aromatherapy is used to restore the harmony of the body and mind. Oil's and essences are harnessed from plants, flowers and resins, and are applied using massage or essence producing products, such as oil burners and hot water.

CUPPING (20 Mins.)

Positioned at the area to be treated and, depending on the type of cups being used; a vacuum is created within the cup to draw the skin and underlying tissue into the cup. The produced vacuum creates a suction effect that increases blood and lymphatic circulation systemically and to the local area, relaxes muscle tissue and support, draws stagnation, pathogenic factors and toxins out of the body and releases a myriad of pain causing factors.

  • Late Arrivals

    At times, something prevents a guest from arriving on time. Nova Therapeutic Massage will do its best to accommodate you within this shorter time frame. As a courtesy to fellow Spa Guests, late arrivals may receive only their remaining available appointment time. You will only be charged the time applied for your visit, not the entire time of your appointment.

  • Cancellation Policy

    You may cancel or reschedule an appointment at no charge by giving us notice no less than 24 hours preceding your appointment. Same-day cancellations or appointments may be charged at 50% of the scheduled service price.

  • Refunds

    Nova Therapeutic Massage cares about each client individually and strives to provide the best service and experience. Please let us know if your service was not performed correctly during check-out. Please note that there will be no service refunds after the check-out. Gift Certificates can be refunded only with the original receipt and to the person who purchased them with a 20% cancellation fee. Gift certificates can never be exchanged for cash and promotional value will expire on the date indicated on the Gift Certificate. In accordance with Virginia law, cash value will not expire for 5 years from the date of purchase. Products can be exchanged within 7 days of purchase only if defective or there is evidence of severe allergic reaction.

  • Insurance

    We do not accept third-party payments and are not affiliated with any provider group. Our experience has been that, when recommended by a physician, massage therapy is occasionally covered by health insurance plans.


    Our services are usually an allowed expense for medical savings accounts and flexible spending accounts.

  • Cellular Phones/Pagers

    For your relaxation and the relaxation of other guests, we ask that you turn off your cellular phone and pagers when you arrive at SPA LUX.

  • Children and Minors

    We love children and would like to provide the best family experience at the spa whenever possible. However, our facility is not set up to accommodate little children before the age of 16. Minors from age 16 up to 18 can be treated with parental consent only. We do ask that childcare arrangements be made prior to your visit. This will allow for a more relaxing visit and atmosphere to all of our guests.

  • Tips for Practitioner

    Tips are appreciated but never expected. If you wish to leave a gratuity for your therapist we ask that you do so in cash or by check made directly to the practitioner.
